WAPELLO COUNTY, IOWA -- Nature enthusiasts gathered Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Ridge Nature Center to learn how to put together wreaths made of grapevines.

The program, offered by the Wapello County Conservation Department, taught participants how to make the decorative wreaths out of natural grapevine found in Wapello County.

"I collected this all on Wapello County property; and if you can find it, I say collect it. Grapevine can take over areas, so if you find a lot of this, go ahead and collect it and it might be a little late now, being it is better before the frost, but so far these wreaths are looking really good," said Annette Wittrock, Naturalist with the Wapello County Conservation Department.

Participants were also treated to lunch before learning how to make the wreaths.

Wittrock says that the ladies can hang their wreaths on a wall or a door,  or place on a table in their homes.
