KANSAS CITY, MO. -- In a judgment that was handed down Tuesday,  former Kirksville dentist Steve Barber will get a new trial.

The Western District Court of Appeals heard oral arguments last month in the appeal of Barber's conviction on two felony counts.

Barber was convicted a year ago on two counts of tampering with a witness. He was sentenced to five years in prison on each count, with the sentences to be served at the same time.

The Court of Appeals has reversed that judgment and Barber will get a new trial.

He has been free on bond pending the outcome of his appeal.
