OTTUMWA, IOWA -- If you're looking for volunteer opportunities in the area, or know a high school student needing volunteer hours to earn a rope at graduation, the Quincy Place Mall is the place to be this Saturday.

Saturday, November 10 is the United Way of Wapello County's second annual Community Day, which will take place at the mall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Representatives from local non-profits will be on hand to tell anyone interested about how their volunteers can benefit their organization.

"All of them will have a list of their volunteer opportunities, so if you're working on your silver cord, if you'd like your family to involved in a winter project now that Thanksgiving and Christmas is coming around the corner, this is a great opportunity to learn what non-profits need for volunteerism and you can get involved with it," said Marie Zoromski, Community Impact Associate at the United Way of Wapello County.

The organizations that will be present on Saturday are: American Red Cross, Southern Prairie Chapter, the Blue Zones Power 9 Board, the Crisis Center and Women's Shelter, Friends of Iowa CASA & IFCRB, the Food Bank of Southern Iowa, the Heartland Humane Society, Hospice of Davis and Wapello Counties, Iowa Kids Net, Ottumwa ILC, Ottumwa Naval Museum (Friends of NAS Ottumwa), Ottumwa Noon Lions, Seneca Area Agency on Aging, Seton Catholic School, Southern Iowa Mental Health Center, Susan G Komen Southeast Iowa Affiliate, the Salvation Army, Wapello County Genealogical Society and the Wapello County Public Health Department.

That's not all; Lizzy the Clown will also be at Quincy Place Mall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to paint faces for children and the Public Health Department will be giving flu shots for $25.
