MACON, MO. -- Election night turned out to be a very late night for workers in the Macon County Clerks office, as final totals weren't counted until early Wednesday morning.

The cause of the problem ended up being the large voter turnout.

Macon County Clerk Shirley Sims told KTVO she slightly under-estimated the large voter turnout, as the precinct at the Macon Expo Center ran out of printed ballots. That caused the office to print about 100 ballots in the office, which meant those ballots had to be hand counted.

Sims ordered nearly 11,000 ballots and because of the large turnout, ended up just a little short.
