DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) -- Some Iowa voters say the election has complicated their Facebook friendships.

Before voting Tuesday, Hannah Biers of Des Moines acknowledged she's unfriended one person on Facebook because of disagreements over politics.

Sharon Malheiro, of Des Moines, says she's also found some heated disagreements on Facebook. She's noted "a lot of unfriending on Facebook that maybe will be refriended after the election."

Scott Smith, of Glenwood, says he's serious about his conservative beliefs and likes to "poke" his liberal friends. But Smith says he doesn't let politics affect his friendships.

He says "some people who do go too far."

Amy Maeder, of Atlantic, says her Facebook friends have been posting their opinions from far left to far right, but she doesn't mind. She says "they have a right to their opinion."
