OTTUMWA, IOWA -- November is National Family Caregivers Month. Seneca Area Agency on Aging wants to thank, support, educate and empower family caregivers.

There are more than 65 million family caregivers in the United States, a number not many people realize is so large.

This Friday, Seneca is putting on a family caregiver conference at Indian Hills Community College.

“They don't always take time for themselves and to think about themselves. This day is geared towards them, to help them to be educated plus give them a time to relax. We are going to have door prizes and there’s going to be a gift from Seneca that they will be able to take home so it should be a fund day too,” said Joan Nydle, Family Caregiver Specialist.

There will be guest speakers in the morning, lunch provided and massages available after lunch.
