KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Ready, set, bid!

That was the atmosphere at the NEMO Fairgrounds on this Sunday afternoon as the community came out to support and raise money for Mary Immaculate Catholic School in Kirksville for the 21st annual Autumn Auction and Lunch.

The school's students, along with parents, parishioners of the church and community members gathered in the multipurpose building at the fairgrounds to see the many items being auctioned off.

This is the biggest fundraiser for the school.

"It's a time when the community comes together and work together. It's just a wonderful family atmosphere. We are doing this for our children. We just purchased a new piano. We'll be getting new science and social studies books. We are also getting new art supplies. So the children have been doing a lot of selling of tickets to get all these nice things for them," said Mary Immaculate Catholic School Principal Sister Ruth Ann Klauser.

Adults had a chance to participate in both a silent and live auction. Some of the items being auctioned off included gift certificates, baby items, toys, sporting goods, collectables, art pieces, and even vacation trips. There was also fun for kids with activities such as face painting and a bounce house.

For Sister Ruth Ann, she is so thankful and amazed on how much support the community has shown for her school and her students.

"It just makes me feel tremendous. The people have just cooperated with us. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger every year. I just want to thank everyone for all their hard work," Klauser said.

About 500 people came out Sunday for the auction.
