Iowa State Patrol names new colonel to lead the department

DES MOINES, IOWA -- The Iowa State Patrol has named a new colonel.

David Garrison, a 23 year veteran of the Department of Public Safety will be the Patrol’s new colonel.

Garrison has lengthy experience in the field, from patrolling southwest Iowa, to being a trooper pilot in Des Moines, to being the department’s public information officer. Garrison has worn many hats and is considered an effective leader.

The Patrol’s current colonel, Patrick Hoye has been assigned by Gov. Terry Branstad to head up the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau.
