BLOOMFIELD, IOWA -- The cast of the Davis County Players' fall musical are in the last week of rehearsals before the show opens its curtains next weekend.

This year's musical is "Kiss Me Kate" and includes a lot of veteran actors in the cast of 25 or so, but a new face in the lead role.

The show has never been preformed at the Iowa Theater before, but audience members will recognize some of the popular songs and sing along.

"You have a lot of classics," said Lyle Stirling, musical director for the show. "People will remember the songs like 'Too Damn Hot' and of course, 'Kiss Me Kate'."

"Musicals may not be for everybody, but I believe this musical has something for everyone," said stage director Joanna McCoy. "It's got a love story, actually a love triangle, lots of really good music and really good comedy and if you're cultured, we have a little Shakespeare in this play as well."

"Kiss Me Kate" will be preformed Thursday, November 8 through Sunday, November 11. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets are on sale starting Thursday, November 1 at the Bloomfield Democrat office. They are $15 for adults and $12 for kids age 12 and under.
