KIRKSVILLE, MO -- With flu season about to kick into full gear soon, the Adair County Health Department wants to remind everyone the importance of getting a flu shot.
So far, the turnout for people getting their flu shot has been pretty good.
Even though the drive-thru clinic held earlier this month had to close early due to bad weather, people have been still stopping by the health department.
The health department did an evening clinic last Wednesday where about 80 people showed up.
Health officials say getting a flu shot is one of the best ways to help from getting sick in the first place.
"It's to help prevent the spread of the flu in the community. Always remember good hand washing and cover your mouth when you cough," said Lori Guffey R.N. at the Adair County Health Department.
The Adair County Health Department still has a good supply of flu shots available. There will be two more evening clinics on Wednesday October 31 and November 7 from 4-6:30 p.m.
You can also come by the Adair County Health Department on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m.-4 p.m to get your flu shot. You can call them for more information at (660) 665-8491.
No appointment is needed and the shot is free to all Adair County residents.
