Afternoon crash claims the life of one

SCHUYLER COUNTY, MO. -- UPDATE: The Missouri State Highway Patrol identifies the victim of the crash as Joni Elliott, 28, of Queen City.

Investigators say the crash happened at 2:08 p.m. Wednesday on Route W eight miles west of Queen City.

The patrol reports that Elliott's SUV traveled off the left side of the roadway, overturned onto its side and slid across the right side of the roadway.

It came to rest on its side, ejecting the driver.

Elliott was pronounced dead at the scene by Schuyler County Coroner Doug Norman.

A Wednesday afternoon car crash in Schuyler County has claimed the life of one.

It happened around 3 p.m. on Schuyler County Route W west of Queen City.

A Missouri State  Highway Patrol trooper on the scene told KTVO that the woman driving the vehicle came around a curve, skidded and then overcorrected.

The vehicle went off the side of the road, and she was ejected.

The woman, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is not being released at this time pending family notification.
