KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The investigation of a noise complaint ends with two people arrested on drug charges.

Kyle Lautenschlager, 20, and Austin Smith, 19, are charged with one count each of felony possession of a controlled substance, hallucinogenic mushrooms.

According to court papers, Kirksville police were called to a residence in the 100 block of South Franklin Street to investigate a noise complaint. When officers arrived they found 30 to 40 people in the apartment, with many beer cans and red cups strewn around the apartment.

The residents of the apartment, Lautenschlager and Smith, along with a third person, gave officers permission to search the residence. That search revealed alcohol, along with baggies containing the mushrooms.

Both men are being held in the Adair County jail under $25,000 cash only bond.
