Suspicious church fire in Appanoose County under investigation

APPANOOSE COUNTY, IOWA -- Another suspicious fire in Appanoose County has law enforcement searching for suspect(s).

According to Sheriff Gary Anderson, deputies responded to a fire at the Sharon Chapel Church, which is about seven miles southeast of Centerville, early Sunday morning.

When deputies arrived, the church was fully engulfed in flames.

Sheriff Anderson says that his office is treating this as a criminal investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Appanoose County Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers.

The church in Sunday morning's fire has not been used for several years.
