WAPELLO COUNTY, IOWA -- A crash involving a car and a charter bus sent two people to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened at 4 p.m. on Highway 34 just west of the Eldon exit.

The Iowa State Patrol said a westbound Burlington Trailways charter bus driven by Arthur Bolinsky, 67, of Mt. Pleasant rear-ended a car driven by Jason McKim, 38, of Fairfield, who was also traveling west.

McKim and a passenger on the bus, Veronica Hayden, 48, of Champaign, Illinois, were hurt in the crash.

They were both taken by ambulance to Ottumwa Regional Health Center for treatment of their injuries.

The extent of those injuries was not released.

The patrol said the crash is still under investigation.

Investigators said charges are pending.
