KIRKSVILLE, MO -- A new community service organization is celebrating its arrival in Kirksville.

There was a celebration for the new Lions International Club chapter in Kirksville Saturday night.

29 new members and officers were inducted into the organization.

A silent auction and a buffet dinner were included in the event.

For many, this is a new way of bringing help to the needy people of the city.

"We are going to help the town of Kirksville meet the needs of the city that haven't been met. We are excited about having a new club here and the potential they can do for the community," said Sandy McMann of the Lions Club in Columbia.

The International Association of Lions Club has 1.3 million members in 205 countries.
