KIRKSVILLE, MISSOURI -- The bi-annual Round Barn Blues Fest took place at the Round Barn Saturday evening right off of Route 63 and Route P.

People from all over northeast Missouri and the Heartland came out to the event.

KTVO spoke with one man that was originally from Kirksville, but now lives in North Carolina and travels all the way back home just for the blues fest.

Organizers say that the blues fest just is not about the music, it is also about giving back to the community.

"Every September we help the United Way with their campaign and we auction off an autographed guitar signed by the entire line-up," said Jen Vogt from the Wooden Nickel.

"I grew up in Kirksville, but I live in North Carolina now, in Charlotte, so I make sure that I make myself available to come back twice a year for the Round Barn Blues. This is something that I just really enjoy and I plan on coming back as often as I can, every time I can," said Mike Groff, who attended the festival.

According to Vogt, the Round Barn is set to turn 100 years old next year.
