A bomb-sniffing dog detected explosives in a vehicle in downtown Kansas City Friday belonging to a man self-identifying as a terrorist , according to local media reports.

Kansas City station KSHB reported that the man walked into the RIchard Bolling Federal Building at about noon Friday where he declared he was a terrorist.

Police sent a bomb and arson squad to the man's vehicle where a bomb-sniffing dog detected explosives, KSHB reports.

Police have evacuated both the federal building and the Fletcher Daniels State Office Building.

KCTV is reporting that the man, who was in the witness protection program because he provided testimony in the first World Trade Center bombing, is in police custody.
