OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Hogs 4 Dogs USA ended its fundraising weekend Sunday with a 125-mile benefit motorcycle ride.

Around 250 bikers came out toR/J Performance to participate in the 9th annual Hogs 4 Dogs ride. And the weather couldn’t have been any more perfect.

“It’s a real good benefit for the local shelter and for Hogs 4 Dogs across the United States. I love to ride and it's kind of a kinship and a brotherhood where people get together and go riding and have a good day,” said Don Lindly, biker.

Starting in 2004, Hogs 4 Dogs USA raises money for area animal shelters, medical care and spay and neuter programs.

Organizers of the event said they raised $15,000 last year and they feel confident they will exceed that number this year.

“This is awesome. We are so blessed to have so many great followers. It’s awesome,” said Tammie Hartley, organizer.

“And it’s a great day too. It really is. You couldn’t ask for a better weather day. I mean – it’s going to rock,” said John Hartley, organizer.

And Harley rider Don Lindly said it best why he comes out to ride:

“Just being in the wind. I mean it’s -- put it this way, dogs understand why we like riding motorcycles or we understand why dogs like sticking their heads out windows,” said Lindly.
