EDINA, MO. -- The Annual Knox County Corn Festvial is off to a great start with plenty of family-friendly activities. People are coming to the festival from all over and even from as far as Valencia, Venezuela.

There are carnival rides for the children, and vendors spread out across the Knox County Courthouse lawn.

On Saturday, the cross-cut saw contest had lots of men showing off their muscles as they tried to manually cut wood. The KC Cruisers car show was also a hit. Organizers of the tractor show said this year had one of their largest turnouts, with some 60 tractors showing up.

The tractor show included three games such as the "Put the chicken in a pot game."

"Put the chicken between two bungie ropes and try to get it in a pot at the other end in an allotted time," said Lynn Douglas, the Tractor Display Chairman. He said the game involves a lot of strategy and is very difficult to win. He got the game idea from the Scotland County Antique Fair and this is the first time it was featured at the Knox County Corn Fest.

One participant said it was a lot of fun but took trial and error to achieve.

"I never seen it done before," said Don Porter, of Palmyra, Mo.  "We thought we'd try it. It was a lot of fun. Harder than it looks...much harder than it looks."

On Saturday night, the the corn festival featured a teen dance until midnight and an adult street dance with the MadHossJackson, a country band.

On Sunday, there will be 3 on 3 basketball beginning at 9 am and then church service at 10 am in the 4-H pavilion. For more information, call 660-216-1065.
