KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Kirksville’s new Spainhower Field is ready for activity.

While the football team is ready to hit the field, many other organizations are excited to be able to use the field as well. The field will be used for a variety of activities including, soccer, gym class, and the band. The band is particularly excited to be using the new field; one of the reasons, dry feet.

“Yesterday was our first morning down here and you mentioned the no wet feet. Well, it’s kind of a joke the band had. But, typically they would have wet shoes, we socks all day and it’s pretty uncomfortable. The other thing the new field does for us is we get to actually practice down here. There was always the problem of the lines wearing off. We always wanted to make sure we could come down here once,” said Kirksville High School Band Director Brad Hudson.

With the new field, the band can practice directly on the field as much as they want. This gives the kids a better idea of where to line up and in the end saves a lot of time.  

Coming up on Friday, the first football game and band performance will be held on Spainhower Field.
