La Plata welcomes new ag building

LA PLATA, MO. -- After nearly 11 months, the La Plata school system and community welcomed a new project to town.

Thursday evening, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the school's new ag building.

The La Plata school district was one of the few in the Heartland without an FFA program.

With school set to begin,  FFA members are looking forward to learning in the new building.

"I'm just excited because I never been in something like this, and I thought it would be exciting to join something new," said senior Molly Safley."

"It will be nice to bring in farm machinery and stuff, and farmers being able to bring in their equipment to work on," said senior Cordel Bane. 

"I would say all the challenges we're going to experience and go through them as a team," said senior Elizabeth Janes. 

"I'm just looking forward to all the experience, all the work we'll be able to accomplish with this. It's going to be a fun year," said junior Preston Payne.

All FFA classes and activities will take place in the new building.

The building consist of a large classroom, a computer, an office for the ag instructor and restrooms.
