KIRKSVILLE, MO -- If you have hazardous waste lying around your home, don’t throw it in the trash. Take it to the Kirksville Public Works complex this weekend. The city of Kirksville will be holding their household hazardous waste collection event this Saturday.

“We will accept basically anything you would normally find in a household. We do not accept commercial drop offs. There is a limit of 30 gallons for paint. Paint is probably the most frequent material we see. We do not handle commercial products or pesticides. We are set up to handle a gallon, not a 55 gallon drum,” said Public Works Director John Buckwalter.

Some of the items you can drop off include aerosols, oils, light bulbs, and lawn products. The event runs this Saturday from 9 am until Noon but you do have to make an appointment in order to drop your materials off.

If you are unable to make this weekends drop off, there will be three more collection dates this summer. Those will be on August 25, September 8, and September 26.
