GAYLORD, MINNESOTA (AP) -- Amy Romero, 29, of Milan, pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree manslaughter for abandoning her newborn daughter in the woods, according to the Associated Press.
Romero allegedly left her newborn daughter to die in Minnesota woods in April 2001.
Romero was living in Milan at the time of her arrest.
Romero will serve an eight-year prison sentence. That is double what is recommended under state sentencing guidelines. Last January, Romero was indicted on charges ranging from first-degree murder to endangerment or neglect of a child.
The infant’s body was never found.
