FAIRFIELD, IOWA -- Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds made a visit to Agri-Industrial Plastics Co. in Fairfield Wednesday morning.

The company is one of the leading blow molded plastic tank manufactures. The governor and lt. governor were also given a tour of the company.

Gov. Branstad said his goal is to create 200,000 jobs in the next five years.

“And its companies like this that are going to make it possible for that to happen. A lot of our growth that comes from within and they’re doing a great quality work here and its just exciting to be here. And we want to work to continue to work to reduce some of the tax and regulation burdens that make it more difficult for those companies,” said Gov. Branstad.

The governor made it clear that STEM is very important for Iowa’s youth.

“We want to make sure through science, technology, engineering and math education and through the Skilled Iowa Project to really make sure that we can have people here in Iowa that have the skills to be able to take these good jobs,” said Gov. Branstad.

The governor and lt. governor also made stops in Mt. Pleasant, Van Buren County and Davis County on Wednesday.
