KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A Kirksville woman has been charged with forgery after using a check to purchase gas and cigarettes.

A Kirksville man reported to a Kirksville Police officer in May that someone had written a check on April 21 at a Kirksville gas station using his name. He stated that it was on an old account that he had closed years ago and that the only person who would have access to any old checks was his ex-wife, Holly Helm, 25.

Helm was questioned by the officer and admitted that she had used her ex-husband's check to make the purchases.

Holly Helm has been charged with the class C felony of forgery and is being held in the Adair County Detention Center under a $25,000 cash only bond.
