MACON, MO -- Residents of Macon County got a treat Tuesday evening, as many got the chance to tour a building more than a 100 years.
The Macon County Jail was open for public tours today.
The jail opened in 1909, which makes it 103 years the jail has been in existence.
Sheriff Bob Dawson said numerous people in the community were curious about the jail, so it was a great time to let them inside to see some of the process.
"We’re just giving people the complete tour of it," said Macon County Sheriff Bob Dawson. "The booking area, all the way to the dress out area. The jail itself and the preparation, the whole operation."
The Macon County Jail is believed to be the third oldest operating jail in the state.
