KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Some of the area's most beautiful children came ready to impress family, friends and most importantly judges at Northeast Regional Medical Group's annual baby show Sunday morning,

Around 50 kids from newborn to eight years old were carried or walked across the stage in front of oohs, awes and plenty of applause.

Organizers say this is a fun event for the parents, but also for the girl participants who wish to compete in pageants in the future.

"Every mother thinks they're beautiful and they are. It's something that gets them started on the whole idea of the pageant,"  said Fair Queen Committe Evelyn Ledford.

This year's theme was Candyland.

The judges were looking for participants with a flair for Willy Wonka, as well as babies inspired by the Candyland board game.
