48 golfers signed up for the Ottumwa YMCA's Strong Kids Golf Tournament

MORAVIA, IOWA -- 48 golfers came out Saturday to the Preserve on Rathbun Lake for the Ottumwa YMCA’s 8th Annual Strong Kids Campaign Golf Tournament.
This year’s total goal for the campaign is $85,000.
It may have been a scorcher on Saturday but each team of four came ready to play, all for a good cause.
“Revenue goes to our scholarship program for the YMCA for any child or family that is unable to pay for our programs. Basically just lets them participate and allows us to not turn anyone away,” said Ashley Claussen, Ottumwa YMCA Sports Director.
Last year alone, the Ottumwa YMCA gave out 389 membership scholarships and around 13% of the memberships at the YMCA come from scholarships.
“As you can see, together we can, together we can make Ottumwa a better place to live --a healthier place to live,” said Andrea McBowell, Membership Service Director.
YMCA staff members said any donation helps, no matter how small.
