KIRKSVILLE, MO -- How does making some easy money, working from home, and being your own boss sound? It sounds too good to be true. Work at home scams is the topic most of you wanted to know more about for Wednesday’s Facebook Story of the day.
While the opportunities sound inviting, most of the time the one who makes all the money is the person who collected your up-front “investment” into an empty promise.
The Iowa Attorney General says to be on the lookout for these key red flags.
Sending money in advance for starter kits, legal fees, and permits can be a sign that someone else is going to pocket your money.
Advance Pay. A company will claim to have overpaid you and have you send a check to them for the difference. This money comes directly out of your bank account.
Don’t give out personal information. Someone who requests personal information about you, including your Social Security number or bank account information, may be trying to steal your identity.
And finally, research the company and find out what kind of work it is. Have you heard of the company, does it have a good reputation, and what is its policy for refunds on materials?
