KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The NEMO Fair is less than a week away and organizers say pre-season pass sales are on par with 2011.
We talked to NEMO Fair Board President Alan Whittom Tuesday morning and he said they usually sell 5,000 to 8,000 season passes every year.
This year, season pass holders will have the opportunity to wear wristbands to ensure speedy access to the fair.
"If you elect to wear the weeklong wristband, it's a really high quality vinyl band, said Alan Whittom, NEMO Fair Board President. "We'll have an express lane so that you can walk right stratight in, show your band. We'll have you print your name on your pass where we can read it, show a photo ID, and you'll get a day band which you can cut off when you leave and you'll just get a new day band each day."
If you have purchased a season pass, Whittom said you can come to the Horseshoe Pavillion at the fairgrounds on July 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. to pickup your wristband before the fair begins.
Whittom said the entertainers will offer something from everyone.
"Monday night, we have Hunter Hays, which is a young man that I guess is really popular with young girls. Tuesday night, we'll have Kansas, which plays Classic Rock. Wednesday night is Jason Michael Carroll. Then we'll have fireworks at the end of the concert on Wednesday night."
New this year is a butterfly release during opening ceremony and a figure eight race before the Demolition Derby.
The fair begins Monday, July 16 and ends Saturday, July 21.
