EWING, MO. -- A northeast Missouri man is dead after leaving the roadway in his pickup, slamming into a grain bin and overturning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Russell Patterson, 55, of Ewing, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in Ewing on Sunday morning.

Investigators said Patterson’s truck traveled off Highway 6 in his hometown at 11 a.m. Sunday, struck a grain bin and came to rest upside down.

Patterson was not wearing a seat belt. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Lewis County Coroner Larry Arnold.

This was the Highway Patrol Troop B’s 17th fatality for 2012.
