KIRKSVILLE, MO -- A Missouri politician is making it known that one of his top platforms is veteran's advocacy.

Republican Attorney General Candidate Ed Martin stopped in Kirksville on Tuesday and spent time talking about his veterans initiative.

Part of his plan is to honor veterans and active duty military personnel by protecting their rights.

On the campaign trail, Martin had a chance to talk with veterans, and meet with a few people at a local coffee shop to hear their concerns.

With all the other problems going on locally, statewide and nationally, Martin says, he feels veterans have been forgotten.

"I kind of feel a sense of urgency that sometimes with the world, county and state with so many challenges, we got to remember these are people that play a special role, and their suffering is a special suffering that we need to acknowledge, said Ed Martin, Rep. Attorney General Candidate.

Martin also points specifically to the number of veteran suicides as something that has concerned him.
