OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Tuesday is the third day after the thunderstorms rumbled through southeast Iowa on Saturday and crews have been working hard on power restoration and cleaning up fallen debris.

According to Alliant Energy, only 13 homes in Wapello County are still without power Tuesday afternoon.  However, that number may be higher due to electrical box damage which is the owner’s responsibility to get fixed.

You can still see signs of the storm with the tree branches and limbs at various locations that crews are still working on removing.

On the Ottumwa City Council’s agenda Tuesday is something that may make cleanup easier for residents.

“The City Council will be considering a residential curbside collection of tree limbs and debris. That will be probably -- if not this Monday -- or it may be the following week,” said Joe Helfenberger, Ottumwa City Administrator.

Officials also want to remind residents that they can drop off tree branches and limbs at the old Alliant Energy building for free this entire week from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
