Trial date set in Heartland murder case

ALBIA, IOWA -- A Monroe County man now knows when he will stand trial for the murder of his brother.

According to online court records, Richard Davis, 75, of Albia will appear in a Monroe County Court to face one count of First Degree Murder on Oct. 22 of this year.

The records indicate Chief Judge James Blomgren expects the trial to last six or seven days.

Davis is accused of murdering Dr. Gary Davis in February of 2011.

The trial has been delayed several times as the prosecution and the defense wrangled over the mental competency of Davis.

He remains in custody on $2,000,000 bond.
