Golf outing benefits school

KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Being able to help children while enjoying time on the golf course was the mission at the Kirksville Country Club today.

More than 40 teams and nearly 150 people tee'd off to support the Mary Immaculate School.

People around the community and other supporters of the school made their way to the golf course Friday morning to help with the fundraising efforts of the school.

This is the 15th year of the golf tournament and the principal of the school says the money goes to numerous parts of eduaction.

"We use it for big events for our students," said Sister Ruth Ann Klauser. "We usually purchase technology equipment. We purchase textbooks for the students, things that our going to help their education."

Last year, Klauser estimates they raised between $10,000 and $10,500.

She also added this is one of their bigger number of participants on the golf course in recent years.
