KIRKSVILLE, MO -- A few organizations are teaming up to help make sure kids eat healthy this summer.

From now till June 29, the First United Methodist Church and the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri are holding the "Food 4 Kids" free lunch at the Kirksville High School Cafeteria.

Parents and kids can come by Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and enjoy a well balanced meal.

"This is a really great environment for the kids to come in and enjoy the food such as sandwiches, fruit, milk, granola bars. It's great food and a well balanced meal," said Food 4 Kids Intern Dagmar Velez.

Food 4 Kids organizers just want to get the word out.

"I hope that more people to know about it this because this is a great program. It's a free lunch and a great cause. I hope we can feed more kids around Kirksville," Velez said.

The food for kids summer program was created to help out kids who are on free and reduced lunch over the school year get a good and nutritious meal while school is out.

Food 4 Kids will expand its lunch summer lunch program in Brasher, P.C. Mills, Memorial, and Jaycee Parks from July 9 through August 3.
