KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Make a splash and swim your way into the record books.

The Kirksville Aquatic Center is working with other aquatic facilities around the globe to help break the record for the world’s largest swimming lesson.

The event will be taking place this Thursday, June 14, at 10am.

"This is the second year that we've done this event, and we had a lot of fun last year," said Recreation Specialist, Robin Harden. "We had a great turnout and it was an important cause that we thought was great to get the word out about."

The program helps to promote and draw attention to the importance of learning how to swim and prevent drowning. Participants will learn through education while having some fun all at the same time.

“Our goal is to get people here, to get them through the door, to give them a free swim lesson and talk to them about the importance of learning how to swim,” Harden said.

To participate in the recording breaking attempt, be at the Kirksville Aquatic Center no later than 9:45am. There is no cost to participate, and everyone who attends will get a free swim lesson.
