Grinstead's trial scheduled for July

BLOOMFIELD, IOWA -- A new trial date has been set for a former Heartland teacher accused of sexual misconduct with a student.

The trial of Ryan Gene Grinstead, 31, of Bloomfield will begin on Monday, July 23 at the Davis County Courthouse.

Grinstead's trial was orginally scheduled to begin next Tuesday, but prosecutors asked for a new date.

The former Davis County teacher faces felony charges stemming from accusations that he engaged in inapproriate sexual conduct with two Davis County students, one of whom was a minor at the time.

The conduct allegedly happened during the 2009 school year. Grinstead was under contract to teach math in Ottumwa when the allegations became public in September of 2011.

Another former Davis County school employee,Patrick Ryan Nicoletto is also facing charges of sexual misconduct with a student.

His trial is set to begin July 17 in Davis County
