COLUMBIA, MO. -- The near two-day search for 4-year-old Nevaeh Rose Colton has ended.

Her mother, Sabrina Rose Colton, said she gave the biological father, 26-year-old Joshua Lambert, permission Monday morning to take their daughter for the day, as long as he brought her back by 5 p.m.

When that didn't happen, Colton went to the Sheriff's Office to file a missing person's report, with the fear that Lambert may have taken her daughter to Texas or Louisiana.

On Wednesday around 10 a.m., the Columbia Police Department said Lambert turned himself in.

"The father lives in this area in Boone county so he brought his daughter here at the police station near his home," said Stephanie Drouin, a Public Information Officer for the Columbia Police Department. "When he knew that the police were looking for him, he just turned himself in here. Macon County authorities picked him up and are handling the investigation."

Joshua Lambert remains in custody at the Macon County Jail. Court papers indicate that Lambert has charged with one count of parental kidnapping, a class D felony. His bond has been set at $50,000, cash-only.

Joshua Lambert is scheduled to have his first court appearance Thursday, May 24, at 1 p.m. in the Macon County Associate Circuit Court.
