ADAIR COUNTY, MO. -- A rear-end accident on Highway 63 leaves a Heartland woman injured.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a Ford Escape driven by 19-year-old Shelbey Winn of Kirksville, Mo. smashed into the back of a Jeep Cherokee, driven by 19-year-old Lorenda Parsons, of Greentop, Mo.

The accident happened around noon Saturday in the southbound lanes of US Highway 63, just three miles north of Kirksville.

"The vehicle was attempting to turn left into the driveway. The vehicle that was following it, the white jeep, slowed down to allow that vehicle to turn left. A second vehicle, a silver Ford, apparently did not see the two vehicles slowing in front of her and struck the rear end of the jeep Cherokee," said Trooper Adam Kinney with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Winn was transported to Northeast Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

Parsons left the scene without injury.
