CENTERVILLE, IOWA -- An elderly Centerville man has entered a plea on a prostitution charge.
According to the Appanoose County Clerk of Court's Office, Ben Dawson, 84, pleaded guilty to one charge of prostitution last week in Appanoose County District Court.
Dawson's arrest on prostitution charges in November of 2011 became a national news story.
He was a candidate for Centerville City Council when he was arrested after police received a complaint alleging he had offered to perform sex acts on a woman in exchange for repayment of a loan.
Dawson adamantly denied the charges a few days later in an exclusive interview with KTVO.

Prostitution is an aggravated misdemeanor in Iowa punishable by up to two years in prison and a fine.
