MORAVIA, IOWA -- Students and staff in the Moravia School District were graced with the presence of two well-known Iowans Tuesday.
Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds listened to what the Moravia School District has planned for the upcoming school year.
The district will increase its faculty efforts to address those students that need modified instructions in order for them to succeed.
The past several months, Gov. Branstad has been holding town meetings and education summits to discuss his education reform
“No, I’m not confident it's going to be passed this year but I think we made progress. I think the people of Iowa want to see bold reform approved. I'm excited about what we've seen in Moravia. We see individual schools in Iowa doing innovative things to improve education. We're – hopefully - every school in Iowa can do things like this,” said Gov. Branstad.
Gov. Branstad added that there’s no stopping now. Iowa will succeed.
“We hope we'll get significant reforms passed this year but we're going to be back next year to try to get done what we don't get done this year. I think we want Iowa to again have the highest educational achievement in the nation and we want to achieve that within the next 10 years. That's an ambitious goal but I think if we all work together, we can do it,” said Gov. Branstad.
