Kirksville man in jail accused of stealing Lego sets from Wal-Mart

KIRKSVILLE, MO -- A Kirksville man is sitting behind bars after being accused of stealing from Wal-Mart.

According to the Adair County Sheriff's Office, Kirk Ammons, 20, has been charged with theft/stealing, a class C felony.

Court documents indicate that a Wal-Mart Loss Prevention Officer observed Ammons stealing expensive Lego sets from the store on several occasions dating back to February. The Loss Prevention Officer said the total loss in merchandise is more than $655.52.

According to the documents, the Loss Prevention Officer witnessed Ammons putting Lego sets in his shopping cart, and then pulling out Wal-Mart shopping bags in another section of the store, where he allegedly put the Lego sets into the bags and then walked out the store.

Ammons is also accused of stealing several food items from Wal-Mart as well.

He remains in the Adair County Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond.
