Daniel James, 34, Kirksville
KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Police arrested Daniel James, 34, of Kirksville in connection with the alleged domestic abuse of a woman. The woman told police James had abused her several times in the past.
Officers were dispatched to a Kirksville home Wednesday for a report of an upset female. When they arrived, the victim told the officers James had wrapped his hands around her throat and choked her. The victim said she fell to the floor and James then grabbed her by her ankle and dragged her across the floor.
The victim said she eventually got away and had someone take her to the police department. Authorities say they observed red marks around her neck, large rug burns across her shoulder and it looked like she was missing hair from the back of her head.
The Police went to look for James and when they found him, they asked him if he had argued with the victim, and he stated he didn’t. Authorities then told James he was under arrest, and James reportedly replied with a profane phrase and then ran away.
Police later located the suspect and placed him under arrest.
James is charged with 2nd-degree domestic assault, a Class C Felony, and resisting an arrest, a Class D Felony.
