Geared towards gaining new volunteers
ELDON, IOWA -- To go along with the spring weather, The American Gothic House Center is planning a Spring Cleaning Day on Saturday, April 28 from 8 a.m. until noon.
With thousands of tourists from all over the world that come to visit the Center each year, there is a lot of cleaning to do.
“So this is kind of a way to orient themselves and then we can talk about what days they're available to volunteer -- what their interests are. That way we know what kind of volunteer projects they have,” said Holly Berg, administrator of the American Gothic House Center.
The idea is for potential volunteers to get a chance to see what contributions they might make to the area’s biggest tourist attraction.
Most of our volunteers greet visitors, help take pictures of people out in front of the house -- but other volunteers work doing computer work or other things that need to be done in the background of the center, things you don't normally think of,” said Berg
