Minor change for Ottumwa School District's summer school

OTTUMWA, IOWA -- For Monday’s Facebook Story of the Day, Facebook fans wanted to know if area school districts will be making any cut-backs on their summer school programs.

Summer school is imperative for many students so that they do not regress academically during the summer break.

The Ottumwa Community School District will be seeing just a minor change to their usual summer school programs.

“We have a migrant program, a summer school program for migrant students. And that is not being diminished but we are revising that program to put a heavier focus on our elementary. We did offer it at the middle school and the high school and this summer we are going to take a year off from that,” says Superintendent Davis Eidahl.

The superintendents from Albia and Fairfield school districts told KTVO that they will not be experiencing any cut-backs this summer.
