KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A stop at a grocery store convenience store resulted in a $1 million prize for one Kirksville man in March.

The Missouri Lottery announced Friday that the Hy-Vee Convenience Store and Gas Station at 502 N. Baltimore St. in Kirksville sold Samuel Pfeiffer his winning Powerball ticket from the drawing on March 28, 2012.

Pfeiffer’s Quick Pick ticket matched all five white-ball numbers drawn, making him the fourth Missouri Lottery player to win a $1 million prize since the game changed.

Prior to the Jan. 15 Powerball prize structure change, Powerball players who matched all five white-ball numbers won $200,000.

Powerball is a multi-lottery game that gives players nine ways to win cash prizes with the jackpot starting at $40 million.

In addition to the jackpot, the game offers second-level prizes of $1 million, third-level prizes of $10,000 and increased payouts by using Power Play.
