LANCASTER, MO -- Have you filed for your taxes? Well, time is winding down as Tuesday, April 17th is when your taxes are due.

As usual, this month has been a busy one for tax services as they work to finish up the tax season strong.

For those that still have yet to file, well you have a little bit of time to get that done.

One tax service in the area tells us about some common mistakes for those who wait until the last minute.

"They don't normally have all of their stuff gathered up and papers get lost or misplaced, an therefore don't get all the benefits of the deductions they have," said Laurie Eads, owner of Laurie's Tax Service.

For those that are worried you won't have your taxes filed by the 17th, in most cases you can file for a six-month extension.
