KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Adair County emergency officials meet to see how E 911 is doing.

The E 911 Board met at Kirksville City Hall Wednesday afternoon.

Officials from the E 911 Center, Kirksville Police and Fire, Adair County Sheriff's Office, Adair County Ambulance District, and Truman State University Security met to review performance over the past year.

One new things the board will be doing this year is evaluating 911 Director, Chris Killday, on her job performance.

"I mean it's a good tool for me. I can get input. If there are negatives, that's good, so I can learn and get better. It's a good part of an evaluation, for anybody," Killday said.

Also, discussed in the meeting was that last year about 13,000 911 calls were taken but only 3,000 came from land lines, leading to concern about funding.

"Most homes now have one or more cell phones and not land line phones. It's a concern to a point for us because we get funding from landlines. On the other hand with cell phones, we get none whatsoever," Killday said.

The E 911 System receives about $1.49 from each land line phone for funding.

Killday told KTVO that 911 centers across Missouri are working with the state to get cell phone funding.
