Glascock was arrested in August 2009 and charged with first degree murder in the death of his 58-year-old wife Doretta.

Police originally responded to the Glascock home in rural Cincinnati, Iowa on July 12, 2009. They found Doretta dead and Jackie suffering from what was believed to be a self-inflicted wound.

Appanoose County law enforcement said at the time that the couple had a history of domestic strife.

It has taken nearly three years for Glascock to reach trial as the court tried to determine if he was competent to stand trial.

The trial is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start.
